Made playdoh today with the kiddos...

We started the day out with reading from the bible and discussing it and prayer... but then we decided to teach today by making play doh...

What a lot of people forget is you can teach your kids the basics through fun activities at home.

So all four of us made homemade play doh.

recipe

1 cup of flour

1 cup of water

1/4 cup of salt

10 drops of food coloring

1 tbs. of oil

2 tsp. of cream of tarter

mix all together then heat over medium heat stirring constantly until it forms a thick dough

Then need until smooth

Now through out this activity we did math problems, reading and comprehension! And it was FUN to the kids. If they enjoy what they are doing they will remember it better!

Now we don't do this every day but we are going to try to do this at least once a week to give the kids something different then the normal book work etc.

Nice article! I totally agree with your points. School isn't the only place for learning activities. When my kids are at home, we do some lessons by getting them excited about discovering something new and disguising the learning activities as fun time. And we enjoy the time that we are together. Fantastic share!!!
