Typical day of homeschooling!!!

A lot of people ask me about homeschooling.. so thought it might beAdd Image interesting to take you through a typical day of homeschooling in the Newman household!

Wake up around 8:00, quickly get my cup of coffee and check out facebook etc.

Make sure the kids have breakfast, get them dressed (most of the time lol... somedays we declare pj day) Then we start school around 9:00.

First subject and the most important BIBLE

We start with a memory verse, then we read a scripture, discuss it and answer questions and an activity that goes along with the lesson. Then we take time for prayer and make sure we pray for all those that are needing prayer!

Next subject is math....

Mya typically works independantly on her math because she does it on the computer, and I will work beside Quenten learning his addition and subtraction!

Then we move on to Language arts!

Mya does a lot of her work out of her work books by herself while Quenten and I drill reading, spelling and writing!

After Language arts it is time for the states and capitols we typically have been learning two states a week. They color each states flags and memorize the capitol. We also are slowly putting up each state on the wall and they are looking foward to building the entire United States!

After the states we then move on to health/science

This year we are studying Anatomy... it is a Christian base publisher and we love the book. They memorized all the parts of a cell and built an edible one at the end of our lesson. Now we have started learning about bones and I am proud of how much they are learning.

After health and science... we will finish up work that needs to be finish and then school is over for the day.

I move onto making lunch and the kids start their chores for the day!

During school we have a reward system. For each answer that they get right, or caught being good, or saying nice things etc. They get a link and they each have a day and the links connect. Once their links reaches the floor they get a suprise out of the suprise bag... really keeps them working hard and staying focused!

Homeschooling is such a blessing!!
